2011. Williamstown, NJ
Architect of Record: Richard M. Haas (at H2W Studio North, LLC)
Construction: Harrington Construction, Inc.
Construction Cost: $1.3mm
Project Summary: In May 2010, the roof of the Grand Theater, built in 1924, collapsed, entirely destroying the auditorium and leaving the front of house uninhabitable. The Road Company Theater Group hired H2W Studio North to provide architectural design documents for the reconstruction of the theater.
The reconstruction consisted a new auditorium and back of house and dressing rooms using a pre-engineered metal building. The renovated existing building consisted of new accessible restrooms, concessions area and theater store. The theater underwent ADA accessibility upgrades, new fire sprinkler, HVAC and electrical systems throughout to meet current codes. The existing remaining brick portion of the building also underwent structural hardening.
