The concept of an exterior courtyard is the organizing element into which all spaces lead. Beginning at the entrance court, one experiences this courtyard space throughout the full extent of the house. Flanking the sides of the courtyard and connected by the monumental stair, are the Master Suite and kitchen on the west, and the bedrooms, library and Guest Suite on the east.
Allusions to an exterior courtyard are reinforced by the large windows and glass doors on the rear facade, which not only fill the space with north light, but draws the views of the lush landscaping and pool inwards. The large kitchen courtyard space blend together through three arches allowing an informal dining gatherings spaces for the client’s many social events and parties.
During more temperate months, the many casement windows can be opened allowing cross-ventilation through the interior court. Sounds of the exterior fountain travel inside filling the living space.
